According to the most conservative estimates, over 20,000 tourists are vacationing in festival Vitebsk

July 11, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. By the most conservative estimates, over 20,000 tourists are vacationing in festival Vitebsk. This opinion was expressed to a BELTA correspondent by Dmitry Skorynkin, Head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.

Tourists from Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Serbia, Moldova, Italy, China, Israel, as well as many other countries whose representatives are participating in the events of the юбилейный "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival, are staying in the hotel complexes of the regional center, which are fully booked during the festival. A significant portion of the guests are Russians and our compatriots from various cities and regions of Belarus. "By the most conservative estimates, more than 20,000 people are guests of the festival these days," said Dmitry Skorynkin, noting that it is impossible to count every tourist, as many come to the festival on their own and prefer to stay in rented apartments during their vacation.

Along with this, the constantly improving appearance of the city, the attention of local authorities to the development of tourism, and the support of private initiative in this direction are already yielding results: in January-April, the sale of tourist vouchers and tours to Vitebsk increased 2.8 times compared to the same period last year, reaching $393.6 thousand. It is expected that for the half-year, the export of tourist services will increase more than threefold, Dmitry Skorynkin added. -0-
