Honor through labor
The list of recipients of the honorary title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region" has been expanded by 100 people. Based on the results of 2010, it includes people of various professions – teachers, doctors, industrial workers, agricultural workers, small business representatives, law enforcement officers, cultural figures – those who have made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the region with their labor.
The decision to honor the best workers of the region was made two years ago, and this initiative has become a true celebration. This time, the award ceremony took place at the Yakub Kolas National Theater. The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, summarizing the results of the past year, emphasized that it was full of significant events that will go down in the country's history. 2010 was the year of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Year of Quality, the IV All-Belarusian People's Assembly, and the Presidential elections of Belarus. In the past year, stable socio-economic development of the Pridvinye region was ensured. Production output exceeded 160%, food security was ensured, and 618 thousand square meters of housing were built. Vitebsk Region became the undisputed leader in many indicators. And all this is thanks to the people, including those who have been awarded the main prize of the Regional Executive Committee. In Belarus, emphasized A. Kosinets, people of labor have always been valued; they are the strength and pride of the country.
Among those awarded the honorary title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region" are many individuals about whom our newspaper has already written. These include Olga Belenkova, Director of OJSC "Znamya Industrializatsii"; Rodion Bass, General Director of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center; Evgeny Larichev, Director of the Regional Printing House; Viktor Zuev, a renowned boxer and winner of many prestigious championships; Natalia Kosabuko, Director of the "Vitebskgrazhdanproekt" Institute; Alexander Bokhan, Director of the Vitebsk Branch of "Beltelecom"; Petr Shershen, General Director of "Vitebskoblgaz"... However, there are no less deserving individuals who have distinguished themselves with a highly professional, initiative, and creative approach to their work, even in their own, perhaps small, areas. Among such people are six representatives from Postavy district. As assured by Viktor Gutorov, Chairman of the District Executive Committee, these are the most worthy individuals. The Chairman of the Board became "Person of the Year".
Presenting the laureates from Novopolotsk, the Chairman of the City Executive Committee, Natalya Kochanova, proudly noted that there are 8 such individuals. Among them are Alexander Matsuganov, a repair fitter at the water utility; Valentina Ivanova, Director of the Trade House; Lyudmila Bodraya, a teacher; Viktor Shershukov, a coach; Lyubov Malysheva, Director of the private enterprise "Lyubava Lux", and others. These are the people, emphasized N. Kochanova, who create the glory of the oil city.
The most positive words can be said about everyone who came on stage to receive a high award from the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. And we will certainly do so in the pages of the newspaper. For they are our beacons, setting an example in labor and love for their native region.
All holders of the honorary title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region" were awarded laureate diplomas, badges, and prizes in the amount of 10 million rubles. And next year, the head of the region promised, the best people will receive cars.
