By the Vitebsk Regional Analytical Control Laboratory of the State Institution "Republican Center for Analytical Control in the Field of Environmental Protection" on October 22, 2012, and October 29, 2012, samples of surface waters were taken from reclamation canals, a stream, and Lake Gorodno.
According to the test report for wastewater and surface waters dated October 29, 2012, No. 462-SPV, no exceedances of maximum permissible concentrations (hereinafter referred to as MPC) were found in Lake Gorodno.

However, the analysis of surface water test results in the reclamation canals and in the stream flowing into Lake Gorodno revealed MPC exceedances in the area of JSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" and the cattle complex "Novka" of JSC "Rudakovo".

According to the test report for wastewater and surface waters dated October 29, 2012, No. 460-SPV for JSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant", MPC exceedances were found in the reclamation canal for BOD5 by 8.1 times, for total iron by 11.8 times, and for COD by 2.5 times. At the discharge of industrial storm waters into the reclamation canal from the territory of JSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant", MPC exceedances were found in the reclamation canal for BOD5 by 15.6 times, for suspended solids by 4.7 times, for total iron by 3 times, for COD by 5.8 times, and for total phosphorus by 1.2 times.
According to the test report for wastewater and surface waters dated October 29, 2012, No. 461-SPV for the cattle complex "Novka" of JSC "Rudakovo", MPC exceedances were found in the reclamation canal for BOD5 by 15.3 times and for ammonium ion by 1.9 times.

According to the test protocol for wastewater and surface water dated 29.10.2012 No. 462-SPV, an exceedance of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) by 3.1 times for BOD5 was established at the point where the stream flows into Lake Gorodno.
When identifying the causes of water body pollution, an inspection of the sewage networks of OJSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" was carried out, which revealed a violation of the rules for operating the sewage pumping station, resulting in the discharge of wastewater into the land reclamation canal.

A fact of manure-containing wastewater and brine from silage pits from the territory of the cattle breeding complex "Novka" of OJSC "Rudakovo" entering the land reclamation canal was also established.
The Vitebsk District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection issued orders to OJSC "Rudakovo" and OJSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" to prevent contaminated wastewater from entering water bodies and to eliminate the identified sources of pollution.

An administrative protocol was drawn up against OJSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" under Article 15.53, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus for violating the rules for operating water management facilities. For water body pollution, administrative materials under Article 15.51, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus against OJSC "Rudakovo" and OJSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" have been sent to the Vitebsk District Court for decision. Calculations are being made for OJSC "Rudakovo" and OJSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" to file claims for compensation for environmental damage caused.

OJSC "Vitebsk Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant" has carried out cleaning of sand traps and sewage manholes, and repair work is being carried out on the sewage pumping station.
At the cattle breeding complex "Novka" of OJSC "Rudakovo", work has been carried out to remove organic matter from the manure storage area, cleaning of filtering and inspection manholes from wastewater has been carried out, and embankments of land reclamation canals have been made to prevent wastewater from entering water bodies. Wastewater is being removed from storage ponds.
