The winners of the "Civil Courage" campaign will be honored in Vitebsk on Defender of the Fatherland Day

February 22, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Winners of the "Civil Courage" campaign will be honored in Vitebsk on Defender of the Fatherland Day, the information and public relations department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. It is noteworthy that this year only men made it to the list of winners. Thus, in the nomination "For ingenuity and resourcefulness," employees of the housing and communal services of the Vitebsk district and the Vitebsk broiler poultry farm, who managed to detain a robber of a rural store, will be awarded. A 71-year-old pensioner from Gorodok was recognized as a people's detective for catching two Roma women who robbed his house himself. An Orsha resident, who offered worthy resistance to a thief before the arrival of police officers when he threatened a seller in a local store with a knife, was noted in the nomination "For bravery and decisiveness." Two graduating high school students from Vitebsk were not in vain included in the nomination "For promptness": they detained a woman who tried to steal cash from a kiosk at a bus stop. All winners will be congratulated by the leadership of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, receive valuable gifts, and enjoy a festive concert. The main goal of the annual "Civil Courage" campaign is to recognize people for their courage, indifference to others, and firm civic position shown in the suppression of various offenses. In total, over the past year, more than 30 residents of the region were recognized for helping law enforcement officers to stop or solve various offenses. On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, other events have already taken place in the Vitebsk region, designed to remind men that they are the stronger sex. Thus, for young men of pre-conscription age, district organizations of the BRSM organized various sports competitions and held open days at various military units. The "Super Man-2010" competition was held in the Sennensky district. Directly on February 23, a festive rally and concert will be held in the regional center at the "Vitebsk" concert hall. -0-
