He noted that in Belarus, the development of education is one of the most important state priorities, and also drew attention to the consistent work being done in the region to strengthen the material and technical base, human resources, and improve the social protection of employees of educational institutions. In particular, almost 850 million rubles are provided in the budget for the financing of the sector in 2022. The head of the region noted the positive effect of creating "Schools of the Future" in district centers and small towns, which are functioning with dignity in Shumilino, Tolochin, Braslav, and other regions. As a result, republican olympiad diplomas were received not only by students of gymnasiums in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Orsha, but also by students from 14 regions of the oblast.

— It is very important, honorable, and gratifying for me to be in this hall today with the intellectual elite of Vitebsk region in particular and the country as a whole, — said Alexander Subbotin. — The team of the northern region became the first in Belarus. We have never had such a result as this year. I want this to become a tradition. I am proud of you! You are purposeful, brave, intelligent, ready to learn new things, and focused on continuous development. It is you who will direct your abilities and intellect to the creation and implementation of the latest information, nano-, bio-, and other high technologies so that our country reaches leading positions and occupies its niche in the global knowledge economy. All conditions have been created for this in Vitebsk region.

Addressing the attendees in a solemn setting, the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, expressed confidence that very soon events of this kind would need to be held not in May, but in June at the Summer Amphitheater, because there would not be enough space for everyone in the concert hall. The head of the Vitebsk region's deputy corps emphasized that Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 2 has brought 28 diplomas to the regional treasury of achievements. This educational institution, under the leadership of Konstantin Kiselev, who many years ago promised to bring the gymnasium to leading positions and kept his word, has set a nationwide record for the second time in a row!

— No educational institution in Belarus has shown such results, — Vladimir Terentyev said with pride. — Three Vitebsk gymnasiums – Nos. 1, 2, and 8 – account for half of all victories. This is impressive! It is gratifying that along with city gymnasiums, district educational institutions are also represented. This is a unique moment! Our schools have great potential. Thank you to the parents who understand that at such a young age, a child wants to rest, but still find arguments, motivate, and sometimes force children to make great efforts on the difficult path to high achievements. Thank you also to the children themselves, who bring glory not only to themselves, their families, but also to the entire Republic of Belarus.

Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department for Education of the Regional Executive Committee, thanked teachers and university professors for their work. The largest number of victories in republican and international subject olympiads were won by students of Veronika Laktina, an informatics teacher at Gymnasium No. 8 in Vitebsk (12 and 5), and Svetlana Matrosova, a mathematics teacher at Gymnasium No. 2 in Vitebsk (9 and 5). Students from the Vitebsk region also showed a worthy result in the republican geography olympiad, winning 13 out of 16 possible diplomas.

Victoria Shedko, a tenth-grader from Shumiilinskaya Secondary School No. 1, is the absolute winner of the final stage of the republican olympiad in the Russian language this year. The girl admitted that being in the hall with the regional leaders is highly valuable. Cheerful, intelligent, charismatic Vika dreams of becoming an international lawyer or diplomat, so she actively studies English and French.

Maxim Volkov, an 11th-grade student at Mezhevskaya Secondary School in the Orsha district, is among the winners in French. The young man is convinced that the main secret to success in an olympiad is the right motivation. In addition, the student is confident that everything must be done with all his heart, then everything will definitely work out.

Margarita Komonova, an eleventh-grader from Secondary School No. 14 in Polotsk, also demonstrated excellent knowledge of the Russian language. The girl noted that it was not easy, as the test includes a wide range of tasks, one needs to keep a lot of information in mind, and be able to analyze and apply everything in practice. The main thing is to cope with excitement and focus on the questions.
