The victories of Belarusians over Germans and Danes brought Br25 million each to the Grodno and Novopolotsk hockey schools

May 18, Minsk /BELTA/. The Grodno and Novopolotsk hockey schools will receive Br25 million each for the Belarusians' victories over the Germans and Danes at the World Championship, which is taking place in Germany. This was decided by the national team players Mikhail Stefanovich and Andrei Mezin, who received certificates for the specified amount from the Presidential Sports Club, the BELTA correspondent was informed by the press service of the Presidential Sports Club. As is known, the Belarusian national team finished its performance at the Ice Hockey World Championship in Germany on May 17 with a victory over the Danish national team (2:1). The decisive goal was scored by 20-year-old forward Mikhail Stefanovich. He decided to transfer his prize of Br25 million from the Presidential Sports Club to the Grodno Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve No. 10 for Ice Hockey and Short Track, where he took his first steps in sports. Goalkeeper Andrei Mezin also made his choice after yesterday's match with the Danes. It should be recalled that the right to do so was transferred to him by Alexei Kalyuzhny, the scorer of the winning goal in the previous match against the German national team (2:1 in overtime). Being a graduate of Chelyabinsk hockey, Andrei decided to help the SDYUSSHOR "Khimik" of Novopolotsk, which is going through difficult times. It should be noted that two representatives of this school played for the national team at the World Championship: defensemen Vladimir Denisov and Sergei Kolosov. By the way, Andrei Mezin himself played for Novopolotsk "Khimik" at the dawn of his career, having moved to Belarus at the invitation of the famous Chelyabinsk specialist Yuri Peregudov. Earlier, Alexei Kalyuzhny, as the scorer of the winning goal in the opening match against Kazakhstan (5:2), also received a certificate from the Presidential Sports Club for Br25 million and transferred this amount to his native hockey school "Yunost" from Minsk. The amounts presented to the hockey schools are to be used for strengthening the material and technical base and organizing sports events. -0-
