Mobile post office arrives in rural areas
Mobile post offices are replacing stationary ones. Statistics show that rural residents use postal services less actively than urban residents. In the Vitebsk region, where rural post offices account for 77% of the total number of stationary post offices (405 as of December 1), there are some that provide only 3 to 15 services per resident per year! Consequently, rural facilities simply cannot operate efficiently, so it was decided to replace them with mobile ones.
– Rural post offices are finding a new life in a different form – a mobile post office, – explains Ekaterina Zinkevich, Deputy Director of the Vitebsk Branch of RUE "Belpochta". – No significant changes are occurring. The post office has simply "gotten on wheels" and in one working day it manages to serve not one, but several settlements.
By the way, in 11 months of 2013, 9 mobile post offices began their operation, and in total, there are already 48 functioning in the Vitebsk region.
