Almost 25,000 children in the Vitebsk region have been vaccinated against COVID-19

In the Vitebsk region, the number of minors vaccinated against COVID-19 has approached 25,000, reported Vladimir Sinkevich, chief physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health.
72.5% of the Vitebsk region's residents, or 799.8 thousand people, have completed the full course of vaccination against coronavirus infection. Employees of organizations and departments are actively being vaccinated with Gam-COVID-Vac, Sinopharm, and Sputnik Light. According to operational data as of November 9, over 85% of medical and pharmaceutical workers and 75% of employees of social service institutions have received both doses of the vaccine. Additionally, 73% of the region's population aged 61 and older have been vaccinated.

The number of minors vaccinated against COVID-19 in the northern region has approached 25,000. 17.3% of children aged 5 to 17 have already received Sinopharm. Medical workers are using the same drug for vaccinating pregnant women and nursing mothers.

According to the chief physician, 66.2% of adults who completed the primary course more than six months ago have received a booster vaccination. In general, all districts of the Vitebsk region are fulfilling the task, and preventive work continues, during which the population is reminded of the importance of vaccination, respiratory etiquette, and maintaining distance in crowded places.

Simultaneously with the coronavirus vaccination campaign, influenza vaccination is underway. Over 340,000 residents of the Vitebsk region have already been vaccinated, which is 30.9% of the region's total population. During the period of increased incidence of acute respiratory infections, vaccination will help reduce both the likelihood of the disease itself and its possible consequences, emphasized Vladimir Sinkevich.
