Nearly 26.5 thousand residents of the Vitebsk region found employment with the help of the employment service last year
In the region, from January to December 2017, 26 thousand 495 people were employed in permanent jobs (this is 11.5% more than in 2016). In addition, over the past year, training and acquisition of new specialties were organized for 1.4 thousand citizens. Assistance in organizing entrepreneurial activities with the allocation of subsidies was provided to 225 unemployed people, 48 families were relocated to a new place of residence (where there are jobs), and adaptation to labor activities was organized for 51 people with disabilities.
In January-December 2017, 5 thousand 876 people were employed in jobs that appeared due to the creation of new industries and enterprises. The registered unemployment rate at the beginning of the year was 0.7%, and decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to January 1, 2017.
The lowest unemployment is currently in the Miory district (0.2%), the highest is in the Postavy district (0.9%). The number of vacancies declared by employers at the beginning of the year was 4 thousand 617 places, which is 1.9 times more than at the beginning of January 2017.
