Almost 70 athletes from Belarus and Russia will gather for a water skiing competition in Novopolotsk

Almost 70 athletes from Belarus and Russia will gather for the international water skiing competitions "N.L. Genov Memorial", "Commonwealth Cup" - 1st stage in Novopolotsk. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Genov, Honored Coach of Belarus, coach of the N.L. Genov Children's and Youth Sports School №3.
The competitions will be held from June 8 to 11 on Lake Lyukhovo. The opening ceremony will take place today at the "First Tent" square at 18:00. A rally and laying of flowers at the memorial plaque of Nikolai Genov, Honored Coach of Belarus, Honorary Citizen, and a pioneer builder of Novopolotsk, are also planned here.

The tournament will bring together athletes from Belarus and Russia aged 10 to 50 (under 14, under 17, OPEN, and 35+ age groups). The main performances are scheduled for Friday to Sunday. The best will be determined in four water skiing disciplines: slalom, ski jumping, tricks, and overall.

Preliminary competitions in slalom and tricks will be held on June 9. The next day, participants will expect final slalom starts and preliminary competitions in tricks and ski jumping (finals on Sunday). The winners will be awarded on June 11 at 16:00 at the award ceremony.

"The competitions are interesting because young people watch the veterans and famous athletes. This is very good training and an incentive for them to continue developing. We expect about 70 participants. For the second year, the competitions are held as the 1st stage of the 'Commonwealth Cup'," noted Vladimir Genov. - We have a stable roster: from youth to adults. The youth are growing, and they have someone to learn from and look up to, as they train together with the older athletes."
