Almost Br50 billion was invested in the construction, reconstruction, capital and current repairs of healthcare facilities in the Vitebsk region in the first quarter, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department informed a BELTA correspondent. This year, it is planned to reconstruct and carry out major repairs on 80 healthcare facilities in the region, including commissioning the Sharkaushchyna Central District Hospital with 95 beds, completing the modernization of Building No. 1 of the Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, the former "Bodrost" sanatorium building for the dormitory of the Vitebsk Medical College, the Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, the reconstruction of a special building for the narcological department of the Regional Center for Psychiatry and Narcology, and Building No. 2 of the Regional Oncology Dispensary. The construction of a maternity hospital in Polotsk, a polyclinic in the Yug-7A microdistrict in Vitebsk, the modernization of the Regional Clinical Hospital, the operating unit of the Children's Regional Hospital and the Regional Endocrinology Dispensary, the Bogushevskaya Regional Tuberculosis Hospital, as well as the modernization of central district hospitals are ongoing. An additional Br300 billion is planned to be allocated from the budget for all these works. The reconstruction of the three-story building of the Children's Regional Hospital, the main building of the Novopolotsk Central Hospital, the therapeutic building of City Hospital No. 1 named after Semashko in Orsha, and the central district hospital in Miory are ahead of schedule. A children's polyclinic in Vitebsk is expected to be commissioned by the International Children's Day. Br10 billion was invested here in the first quarter. Construction and installation work is in the final stage. Furniture is being installed, and medical equipment is being purchased. Finishing work in the therapeutic building of the Vitebsk City Emergency Hospital is nearing completion. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for July 20.
