Почти полсотни новобранцев МЧС приняли присягу на площади Победы в Витебске
47 recruits from various units of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus took the oath on Victory Square in Vitebsk on the eve of the professional holiday, Rescuer's Day.

The solemn events began with a ceremony of laying a wreath and flowers at the Eternal Flame. The newly minted rescuers were congratulated by the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev.

— There are no random people here; people join the Ministry of Emergency Situations consciously. After all, they have to risk their lives daily while performing their duty, — he noted.

— I wish you high spirits and success to all present, — said the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Sergey Meleshkin.

By the way, among the recruits was the only representative of the fair sex – Lieutenant of the Internal Service Maria Rubenok, a doctor of the medical service of the Vitebsk Rescue Squad "Vityaz".

— I studied at VGMU, then worked at the ambulance station. I joined the Ministry of Emergency Situations six months ago and do not regret it at all, — the girl shared.

As part of the event, the best employees of the regional emergency services were awarded badges, certificates of honor from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Regional Council of Deputies, the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the administrations of the districts of the regional center.

On the eve of the professional holiday, the Orsha Department for Emergency Situations received a new UAZ "Patriot" as a gift from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The fire and technical equipment of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will continue to be updated, Sergey Meleshkin told reporters. Thus, thanks to the development of international project cooperation, 750 thousand euros will be allocated in the next two years for the purchase of emergency rescue equipment. This year, it is planned to open a new station in Polotsk, in the village of Bychiha, Gorodok district, and in the city of Barani, Orsha district.

All this is done for the successful fulfillment of the main task — to reduce the death of people from external causes, noted Sergey Nikolaevich. And one of the effective levers here is the work aimed at preventing emergencies. The algorithm of preventive measures has already been developed, involving both employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and internal affairs bodies, utility workers, healthcare professionals, social workers, and representatives of rural and settlement councils.

— I advise every resident of the region to install an autonomous fire detector in their homes. The device has saved more than one human life, including children's, — added the head of the department. — Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations constantly inform kindergarten pupils, schoolchildren, and students about the rules of conduct at home, in educational institutions, and on the street.

For the same purposes, the MES image facility "Hero Headquarters" was opened in Vitebsk in one of the children's entertainment centers. This is the first quest room in Belarus where classes will be held in the form of investigating emergency incidents.

— I congratulate the rescuers on their professional holiday and wish the employees of the emergency services strong health, well-being, happiness, and optimism, — Sergey Meshkleshkin said in conclusion. — I express my immense gratitude to the service veterans who continue to share their experience. Thanks also to the families who wait for each of us at home.
