'Let's Give Warmth to Children': An event was held at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital on the initiative of the regional branch of the Belarusian party 'Belaya Rus'

On the eve of Children's Day, on the initiative of the regional branch of the Belarusian Party "Belaya Rus", the "Let's Give Warmth to Children" event was held at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital. Woolen socks for premature babies, knitted by party members and the public organization of the same name, were handed over to the neonatal intensive care unit.

– At the moment of birth, every infant experiences a significant loss of heat. Therefore, doctors try to protect the skin of babies with low and extremely low body weight in various ways, – explained Elena Leonovich, chief physician of the regional clinical maternity hospital. – For this, we use special incubators, plastic elements, as well as tactile stimulators, which include items made of natural wool.

It turns out that socks are not just cute gifts, but an element of treatment: wool not only retains heat but also irritates the delicate baby skin, thereby improving blood circulation and motor activity of the tiny patients.

38 girls knitted one sock each, for a total of 19 pairs. Each item was made with love and a great desire to help the babies get stronger. The staff of the regional maternity hospital thanked the party members for the gift and organized a tour for the delegation members to the holy of holies – the department where premature babies lie in incubators, gaining strength. Notably, each of them was carefully surrounded by woolen items.

– We are handing over these gifts with great pleasure because we treat new life as a real miracle, – noted Valentina Bogatyreva, chairperson of the regional branch of the Belarusian Party "Belaya Rus", rector of VSU named after P. Masherov. – Unfortunately, in many countries today, the concepts of family and motherhood are being rethought not for the better in terms of necessity. But Belarusian women are still confident that a child is a gift from God, and they accept it with gratitude.

Elena Leonovich, in turn, reminded that medical professionals are always ready to provide professional assistance to young mothers.

– One should not forget that it is advisable to prepare for pregnancy in advance, and while awaiting a miracle, it is necessary to strictly follow the doctor's recommendations, – summarized the chief physician of the regional maternity hospital. – This will help the child be born healthy and be discharged home with the mother faster.
