All preschool children of preschool age undergo school preparation in the Vitebsk region

November 11, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. All preschool children of senior age in the Vitebsk region undergo school preparation, which significantly increases the possibility of early identification of gifted children and the creation of conditions for their full development in the future. This was announced by Larisa Zenkova, Vice-Rector of the Regional Institute for the Development of Education, at the interregional scientific and practical conference "Gifted Children: Identification, Training, Development," which is being held today in Vitebsk, according to a BELTA correspondent. In total, about 45.6 thousand children are educated in 657 preschool educational institutions, which is 88% of the total number of young citizens of the region (in 2004 - 71%). One of the key tasks of the system of working with gifted children is the development and rationalization of the network of educational institutions that meet the diverse educational needs of children, and the creation of a full-fledged environment for the life and development of each child. "Only in this way can 'hidden' giftedness be preserved, as well as prevent the unfavorable development of the personality of a gifted child," emphasized Larisa Zenkova. Today, 14 preschool centers for child development and institutions with an in-depth focus operate successfully in the region, more than 200 educational and pedagogical complexes "kindergarten-school," 4 sanatorium and 3 family-type kindergartens. In the general secondary education system, 27 gymnasiums and 1 lyceum continue to operate, which maintain specialized training at an advanced level in physics and mathematics, chemistry and biology, humanitarian and socio-cultural areas. At the same time, opportunities for additional education are actively used in the region. In the past academic year, extracurricular classes of a subject, developmental, and career guidance nature were organized in all schools, covering more than 92% of schoolchildren in grades 1-11. At the same time, over 23% of capable and highly motivated students had the opportunity to study subjects at an advanced level. Inter-school extracurricular classes have been organized in a number of districts of the region. The search for various ways to construct an educational space that creates conditions for the manifestation and development of children's giftedness is one of the main areas of activity for pedagogical teams and education organizers in the region for the future, added Larisa Zenkova. -0-
