Adolescents in the Vitebsk region prefer part-time jobs to entertainment during summer holidays
"As practice shows, children over 16 want to work. They are less interested in entertainment and organized leisure activities than younger children. Therefore, today we are setting a task for all our city and district committees, talking with employers to satisfy teenagers' demand for temporary employment. The situation is, of course, not simple - priority must be given to employing unemployed adults. But we will still be carrying out this work in the remaining time before summer. So that children, especially in July and August, when active agricultural work is underway, are involved in paid labor. And at the same time, they feel what a ruble is, realize its value. And earn their own money. As a rule, guys value such money much more than what their parents give them," noted Tamara Olekhnovich.
As for young children, a significant percentage of them spend the summer with their families: at their dachas, on vacation with their parents, including abroad, under the supervision of grandparents in the village, and so on.
"But children also really like tent camps, including those created in cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Kids enjoy unconventional forms of leisure with the involvement of new people. Because over the year, they get tired of teachers, just as teachers get tired of children. A change of scenery and environment benefits everyone. And such forms of summer pastime are especially useful for difficult teenagers, children from disadvantaged families. We are placing a significant emphasis on this category, as children have a lot of free time, and how they spend it should not fall out of the adults' field of vision," the interlocutor concluded.
According to her, annually 45% of all schoolchildren in the region are involved in organized active forms of recreation and health improvement. The number of labor and recreation camps, including joint ones with law enforcement agencies, is not decreasing.
