The Vitebsk-Polotsk train was delayed by 36 minutes due to a mine

August 23, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The Vitebsk-Polotsk diesel train was delayed by 36 minutes on August 22 due to a mine, BelTA was informed by Alexander Marchenko, press secretary of the Internal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Transport. At 11:50 AM, near the railway crossing at the 549th kilometer of the Staroye Selo station, a tractor driver discovered a dangerous find while carrying out excavation work to lay a cable. The demining team established that it was a 120 mm mine from the Great Patriotic War. It was seized and disposed of. The transport police added that along with such real threats to the normal operation of the railway, fake miners continue to cause disruptions. Thus, on August 20, at 18:55, police officers were forced to remove a drunken passenger from the Minsk-Gomel train at Buda-Koshelevskaya station. This 46-year-old resident of Minsk told the conductor that one of the carriages was mined. 30 passengers were evacuated, and the train was moved to a siding. No explosive device was found, but a delay in movement could not be avoided. It lasted 10 minutes. A criminal case has been initiated against the "miner" under Part 1 of Article 340 "Knowingly False Report of Danger" of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for up to five years of imprisonment. -0-
