Business class trains Minsk - Vitebsk are planned to be launched in the second half of the year
Currently, the Minsk-Vitebsk railway connection is carried out by passenger trains formed from locomotive-hauled carriages, as the Orsha-Vitebsk section is not electrified. The ministry also answered a question about the renewal of public transport in the cities of the republic.
"The State Program for the Development of the Transport Complex of the Country for 2016-2020 provides for the financing of measures for the renewal of the passenger transport vehicle fleet of road and urban electric transport, as well as the development and maintenance of urban electric transport infrastructure, to be carried out at the expense of local budgets," the department reported.
"- In 2016-2018, 796 buses, 45 trolleybuses, and 32 electric buses were purchased in the regions and in Minsk." According to the Ministry of Transport, this year it is planned to purchase more than 150 city buses, 75 tourist-class buses, 30 minibuses with a capacity of up to 25 seats, and 50 electric buses.
