Border guards continue to liberalize issues of citizens' stay in the border zone and border strip
From January 1, 2021, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus of December 29, 2020 No. 72-Z "On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus", the state fee for visiting the border zone and strip has been abolished.
In particular, the requirement to pay state duty for the issuance of permits for entry (access), temporary stay, movement in the border zone for foreign citizens and stateless persons permanently residing outside the Republic of Belarus has been abolished. Also, now there is no need to pay duty for the issuance of a permit for entry (access), temporary stay, movement in the border strip, reports the official representative of the Polotsk Border Detachment, Lieutenant Colonel Denis Glebko.
The issuance of permits will now be carried out free of charge for all categories of citizens.
We remind you that the State Border Committee systematically puts forward initiatives to simplify the conditions for staying in the border area. Thus, in 2017, the state duty for staying in the border zone for citizens of Belarus, foreign citizens and stateless persons permanently residing in Belarus was abolished. And in 2019, the state duty for issuing permits to the border zone for foreigners was abolished.
These measures help to simplify the procedure for citizens' stay in the border zone and border strip, as well as increase the tourist attractiveness of objects located in the border area, and create comfortable conditions for the daily life of law-abiding citizens.
The Polotsk Border Detachment reminds of the rules for visiting the border zone and border strip.
Citizens of the Republic of Belarus can be present within the border zone with identity documents - a passport, military ID, driver's license, or service ID. However, a student ID, pension certificate, disability certificate, or certificate of entitlement to benefits is not a basis for entry (access), temporary stay, or movement in the border zone.
For staying in the border strip, citizens must obtain a permit for the right of entry
(entry), temporary stay, movement in the border strip. Entry into the border strip is possible only at designated locations. Information on established entry points, duration of stay abroad, engineering structures and barriers in the border strip, their description and geographical coordinates are posted on the official Internet portal of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus in the section "Border Zone, Strip", subsection "Entry (Entry) Points to the Border Strip" (www.gpk.gov.by/pogranichnaya-zona/gate-maps/).We remind you that citizens intending to visit the border strip must inform the border service officers about this.
