This was announced today by the First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Novatsky at a meeting of the executive committee, according to a BELTA correspondent. Last year, this indicator was at the level of minus 14.9% with a target of minus 12%. The target was met by all districts and cities, except for Braslav and Tolochin. Br188.4 billion was allocated for the implementation of the energy saving program for 2008. These funds were used to implement a whole range of measures in various sectors of the national economy. For example, heat and thermal regulation meters were installed in cultural, educational and social service institutions. In agricultural organizations, 31 heat generators using local fuels and over 150 sets of energy-saving refrigeration equipment were introduced. 862 unused real estate objects were put into economic circulation. In the industrial sector, a number of projects are being implemented to produce import-substituting products. The residents of the free economic zone - enterprises "Soyuz-kabel", "Rubikon-Agro" and "Fortex - Water Technologies" - are working most effectively in this area. In addition, constant control over the rational use of fuel and energy resources is carried out. The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets instructed to refine the set of measures for 2009 aimed at saving energy resources.
