Polimir has started supplying acrylic fiber to Bulgaria and Italy

July 1, Minsk / Milena Anufrienok - BELTA /. This year, the Polimir plant of Naftan Open Joint-Stock Company began supplying acrylic fiber to Bulgaria and Italy. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Alexander Bartkevich, head of the Polimir marketing department. He noted that in the coming months, fiber supplies to these two countries could total up to 300 tons per month. The enterprise managed to reach end consumers and, according to Alexander Bartkevich, buyers are asking to increase the volume of supplies from month to month. In January-May 2009, Polimir shipped up to 400 tons of "Nitron-D" brand fiber to Bulgaria and Italy. In addition, the plant continues to export acrylic fiber to Poland. In the Polish market, the enterprise's partner is the firm Unia, through which about 100-200 tons of fiber are supplied per month. This year, the volume of supplies to Poland is expected to remain at approximately the same level as last year. At the same time, taking into account the entry into the Bulgarian and Italian markets, Polimir expects to increase its export of acrylic fiber to the EU in 2009 by at least half compared to last year, to 3-3.5 thousand tons. The head of the marketing department noted that there is currently a revival in the global acrylic fiber market. "Fiber prices are rising very sharply in both the Asian region and Western Europe, which in turn was due to the increase in the price of raw materials," he said. "Prices for July for fiber exported by Polimir have increased by 250 euros per ton." In the specialist's opinion, the favorable market conditions for acrylic fiber will continue in the coming months. The total output of fiber ("Nitron - C" and "Nitron-D") at the Polimir plant is about 5 thousand tons per month. About 70% is exported, mainly to Iran, China, and Turkey. The Novopolotsk enterprise Polimir was founded in 1968 and is one of the largest producers in the chemical industry of Belarus. It manufactures high-pressure polyethylene, acrylic fibers, organic synthesis and small-tonnage chemistry products, textile auxiliaries, hydrocarbon fractions, and consumer goods. By the decision of a joint meeting of shareholders in November 2008, Polimir was merged with Naftan OJSC. -0-
