Polotsk residents will be able to travel to Georgia for health improvement at preferential prices

Polotsk has signed a multilateral cooperation agreement with the city of Tskaltubo (Georgia), which is famous for its healing mineral springs. Benefits for health improvement in Georgian health resorts are promised to twin cities.

Welcoming the delegation of foreign guests, Chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Nikolai Shevchuk, emphasized that great importance is attached to the development of partnerships with twin cities in the Vitebsk region and the country as a whole: people's diplomacy helps to establish direct ties between economic entities, strengthen good neighborliness and mutual understanding between people.

– Anyone who has visited Georgia at least once will love your country and its people for life, – said Nikolai Nikolaevich.

– We feel the same warmth towards Belarus, and it is a great honor for us to visit the most ancient city of your republic, – noted Head of the Tskaltubo Municipality, Konstantine Mamiseishvili.

A memorandum of cooperation between the cities was signed two years ago during the visit of the Polotsk delegation to Tskaltubo. Now a new page has been opened in strengthening friendly contacts for the next two years. The agreement provides for the development of investment and innovation activities, the exchange of experience between local self-government bodies and public organizations, and participation in joint exhibitions and creative projects. Relations will develop in the spheres of economy and business, education, healthcare, culture, sports, and tourism.

After exchanging handshakes and gifts, the parties agreed to fill the signed documents with concrete actions. And they already exist. For example, a creative group from Tskaltubo took part in the III Open Amateur Film Competition "I Shoot Movies" named after Yuri Tarich, where they won the Grand Prix for best directing work in the "Documentary Film" nomination. The authors could not come to receive the award, so the diploma was handed over to the Georgian delegation during an official reception at the Polotsk District Executive Committee.

Tskaltubois known primarily as a remarkable resort. Chronicles tell that in the XII century, tsars and nobility used to come here for recreation. In the 19th century, mineral water from local springs was recognized as unique due to its rare combination of salts. In Soviet times, obtaining a voucher to this all-Union health resort was considered great luck. Almost a third of the city's area is occupied by a resort park, where over 100 species of subtropical plants grow. Karst caves with a special microclimate also have a therapeutic effect. It is no coincidence that the meeting touched upon the possibilities of improving the health of Polotsk residents with Georgian counterparts. Those who wish to undergo treatment in the health resorts of the Tskaltubo municipality will be provided with special benefits, according to Konstantin Mamiseishvili.

A rich business and cultural program was prepared for the Georgian delegation. The guests not only got acquainted with the sights of Polotsk but also visited industrial and agricultural enterprises in the region. In addition, they met with tourism stakeholders and took part in a conference on the prospects for cooperation in the economy and business sphere. Polotsk residents currently supply flour, dry milk and butter, and products from JSC "Polotsk-Steкловолокно" to Georgia. Many private sector entities are also interested in developing constructive business ties. Partners noted that they have something to learn from each other.
