A resident of Polotsk took out a Br37 million loan from a bank and disappeared

May 12, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A man from Polotsk took out a loan of Br37 million from a bank and disappeared, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Department's Economic Crimes Unit (UBEP) informed a BELTA correspondent. Planning the crime, the 32-year-old individual entrepreneur had previously selected two candidates for the role of guarantors, gained their full trust, and on the appointed day, the trusting ladies signed all the documents. The swindler spent the money he received, as planned, on purchasing an apartment, and the deceived women were supposed to pay for this purchase. It was to them that the bank presented claims when the man from Polotsk defaulted on the loan. However, the guarantors, realizing their dire situation, also did not wish to pay someone else's debts and turned to law enforcement agencies. It was not difficult to find the swindler; he was hiding in Minsk. Currently, the 32-year-old man, who already has convictions for property crimes, has been detained. A criminal case has been initiated against him for fraud under Part 4 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. An investigation is underway. -0-
