Polotsk will turn into a literary Mecca during the "Slavic Lyre" forum

The III International Literary Forum "Slavic Lyre" will be held in Polotsk on June 2-4, as reported by the press center of the district executive committee.

For three days, Polotsk will turn into a literary Mecca, a center of original artistic word and expressive poetic recitation, a whirlpool of national cultures and literatures, writer personalities, literary images and heroes.

A book exhibition will be held, evenings of national literatures will take place, an open poetic tribune at the monument to Euphrosyne of Polotsk, a blitz poetry tournament, master classes for young and aspiring authors, writers from different countries will perform for the audience in the city's institutions. However, "Slavic Lyre" is, first and foremost, a competition for writers. The open correspondence competition of the third forum started on February 1. Five nominations were presented to the applicants: "Poetry. Free Theme", "Poetry. Philosophical Lyrics", "Literary Translation", "Short Prose", "Drama".

It was in these categories that one could present their work for evaluation by a competent jury. By the way, the geography of famous people in it and the number of writers' unions they represent have significantly expanded compared to previous years. The composition includes almost two dozen writers from Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and Finland. The selection of the best works was completed on April 15. Winners and prize-winners in each nomination will be awarded during the forum.

Literary and musical evenings will be held one after another, hosted by Finnish poet Olga Pussinen, Russian writer and film actor Yuri Konoplyannikov, Russian poet Viktor Pelenyagre, French poet Martin Dinkov, and Belarusian prose writer Natalia Batrakova. Forum visitors will spend "Bibliosvet" in the company of Lithuanian poet Yuri Kobrin and Russian prose writer Platon Besedin. Bright concert programs will add solemnity to the opening and closing of the forum. Admission to all events is free. The Belarusian Literary Union "Polotsk Branch" made a decision in August 2013 to establish an annual international

literary forum "Slavic Lyre". The initiative was supported by the leading Russian and Ukrainian writers' unions, which became co-founders of the festival. The forum is held with the support of the Polotsk District Executive Committee and the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.
