Polotsk-Steklovolokno is seeking investors to organize the production of fiberglass pipes
October 3, Minsk / Milena Anufrienok - BELTA /. Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC is seeking investors to organize the production of fiberglass pipes. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent at the enterprise.
The new investment project provides for the acquisition of technology and a complete line for the continuous production of pipes with a capacity of 40 m/h. Fiberglass pipes are planned to be produced with diameters from 250 to 2400 mm and lengths up to 14 m. Possible areas of their application include the supply of drinking and technical water, sewage systems, irrigation, and ventilation of air and air-aggressive environments. It is planned to introduce a complete set of equipment for the production of related products: fittings, joints, and elbows made of fiberglass.
As noted at the Polotsk enterprise, similar productions are currently absent in Belarus, Ukraine, and western Russia. The implementation of the investment project will allow for the establishment of competitive, profitable products with good export potential and demand in the domestic market. Fiberglass materials produced by Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC are intended to be used in the manufacturing of pipes.
The estimated cost of the project is 7-10 million euros, and the implementation period is 2009-2011. To implement it, the Polotsk enterprise is considering the possibility of attracting direct investment and creating a joint venture.
Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC specializes in the production of fiberglass and products made from it: electrical insulating and structural glass fabrics, building and thermal insulation materials, etc. Almost 90% of the manufactured products are exported to more than 40 countries. The first stage of the enterprise was commissioned in 1958. In 2003, the production association was transformed into an open joint-stock company. The state owns a controlling stake. The enterprise employs over 4.5 thousand people. -0-
