Polotsk-Steklovolokno has launched industrial production of an angle profile with reinforcing fiberglass mesh
October 5, Minsk / Anna Kot - BELTA /. Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC has launched the industrial production of corner profiles with reinforcing fiberglass mesh, as reported to BELTA by the enterprise's marketing department head, Alexander Krasko.
The first batch of products, numbering 300 units, has already been sold to Belarusian enterprises. In October, Polotsk-Steklovolokno will produce an expanded batch of profiles – about 10,000 units. By the end of the current year, the production of the new product is planned to increase by approximately 50%.
The enterprise will sell the new product primarily on the domestic market. In Belarus, besides several domestic enterprises, Russian and Polish companies also sell these profiles. "We are preparing to supply the new product for export as well, but first and foremost, Polotsk-Steklovolokno's task is to supply the Belarusian market with domestic profiles," noted Alexander Krasko. He added that the project is expected to pay for itself in about 1.5 years.
The corner profile with reinforcing fiberglass mesh is an import-substituting product. It is used as a reinforcing element in plastering work and for insulating the external walls of buildings and structures. The profile prevents the formation of cracks and the destruction of the plaster layer on building corners and at the junctions of door and window openings and floor slabs with walls. It consists of a PVC or aluminum corner with an attached alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh. The length of the profile is 2.5 meters.
Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC is part of the Belneftekhim concern and is an integrated enterprise that combines technological processes for raw material processing, glass melting, fiberglass production and its textile processing, finishing of glass fabrics, and manufacturing of fiberglass-reinforced plastics. It specializes in the production of fiberglass and products made from it – electrical insulating and structural glass fabrics, construction and thermal insulation materials, silica products, and its structural unit "Steklokompozit" specializes in the production of fishing rods, kayaks, boats, and other fiberglass-reinforced plastic products. Almost 90% of the products are exported – the enterprise supplies products to 45 countries. The first stage of Polotsk-Steklovolokno was commissioned in 1958. In 2003, the production association was transformed into an OJSC. The state owns the controlling stake. Over 4,500 people work at the enterprise. -0-
