"Polotsk-Steklovolokno" has mastered the production of fiberglass mesh for reinforcing plaster of basement floors
June 17, Minsk / Irina Aniskevich - BELTA /. Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC has mastered the production of SSSh-330 glass mesh for reinforcing plaster on basement floors in external facade insulation systems. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the enterprise's marketing department.
The glass mesh possesses alkali resistance and can withstand increased tensile loads. An advantage of the new product is that its use reduces material consumption and labor costs per 1 sq.m of the system – one layer of SSSh-330 mesh is laid instead of two layers of the traditionally used SSSh-160 mesh. The glass mesh can be used in technologies for increasing the thermal resistance of external walls, such as "Termoshuba", "PSL", "Radex".
Currently, the range of glass meshes produced at the enterprise includes seven types – they are intended for plaster reinforcement, construction, repair and reconstruction of roads, and as a signal tape when laying electrical cables.
The enterprise also reported that in June, Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC resumed the production of glass wallpaper after a year's break. This is due to the fact that the fashion for this type of finishing material is returning and consumer interest in it is growing, the marketing department explained. The main advantages of glass fiber wallpaper are its fire-resistant properties and non-toxicity. In addition, this material is resistant to moisture, abrasion and impact, and completely covers seams and cracks on the surfaces being finished. Glass wallpaper is intended for interior finishing of hotels, offices, shops, hospitals, administrative buildings and other large premises. This is due to its cost-effectiveness: its use does not require thorough preliminary puttying, it lasts up to 30 years, and it can be repainted up to 20 times without losing the relief of the pattern.
Polotsk-Steklovolokno OJSC is part of the Belneftekhim concern and is an integrated enterprise that combines in a single complex the technological processes of raw material processing, glass melting, fiberglass production and its textile processing, finishing of glass fabrics and manufacturing of fiberglass products. It specializes in the production of fiberglass and products made from it: electrical insulating and structural glass fabrics, construction and thermal insulation materials, silica products, and its structural unit "Steklokompozit" specializes in the production of fishing rods, kayaks, boats and other fiberglass products. Almost 90% of the products are exported. The first stage of the enterprise was commissioned in 1958. In 2003, the production association was transformed into an OJSC. The state owns the controlling stake. The enterprise employs over 4.5 thousand people. -0-
