Polotsk-Steklovolokno has begun producing fiberglass containers for household waste collection

May 24, Minsk / Irina Aniskevich - BELTA /. Polotsk-Steklotkan JSC has produced a pilot batch of fiberglass eurocontainers for the collection of mixed municipal solid waste, the enterprise's marketing department informed a BELTA correspondent. The new product has been developed by the enterprise's specialists and is intended for use in public utilities. It differs from conventional containers by its lower weight, fire resistance, larger volume, and also by the fact that it is not subject to corrosion. The first batch of containers is being tested in the public utilities of Polotsk. The enterprise noted that fiberglass, due to its physical, mechanical, and dielectric characteristics, low weight, and high strength, has found wide application in the electrical industry, energy sector, and in technical and household products. For example, Polotsk-Steklotkan produces bathtubs, seats for sports arenas, spinning rods, ski poles, kayaks and canoes, as well as other products based on fiberglass. This year, the production of fiberglass boats has begun. Polotsk-Steklotkan JSC specializes in the production of fiberglass and products made from it: electrical insulating and structural glass fabrics, building and thermal insulation materials, etc. Almost 90% of the products are exported to more than 40 countries. The first stage of the enterprise was commissioned in 1958. In 2003, the production association was transformed into a joint-stock company. The state owns the controlling stake.
