Polotsk-Steklovolokno has expanded its range of rolled fiberglass for thermal insulation

JSC "Polotsk-Steklovлокно" has expanded its range of rolled fiberglass for internal thermal insulation work for the 2010/2011 heating season, the enterprise informed a BELTA correspondent. The new type of rolled fiberglass, RST-140L(25), due to its small width (25 cm), is convenient for insulating pipes and equipment in hard-to-reach places, as well as at pipe bends. The product is lighter (140 g per 1 sq.m instead of 250 g) and cheaper than the one previously produced by the enterprise, and has improved consumer qualities. The first batches of the new product, amounting to 15 thousand sq.m, have already been delivered to Russia, and by the end of the current year, it is planned to ship about 30 thousand sq.m more in this direction. Lithuania, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan have also shown interest in RST-140L(25). In 2011, the enterprise plans to certify the new product for compliance with STB requirements in order to be able to sell the product in Belarus. If there are sufficient orders, the enterprise will be able to produce up to 300 thousand sq.m of such products per year. JSC "Polotsk-Steklovлокно" is part of the "Belneftekhim" concern and is an integrated enterprise that combines the technological processes of raw material processing, glass melting, fiberglass production and its textile processing, finishing of glass fabrics, and manufacturing of fiberglass plastics. It specializes in the production of fiberglass and products made from it - electrical insulating and structural glass fabrics, construction and thermal insulation materials, silica products, and its structural unit "Steklokompozit" specializes in the production of fishing rods, kayaks, boats, and other fiberglass products. Almost 90% of the products are exported: the enterprise supplies products to 45 countries. The first stage of "Polotsk-Steklovлокно" was commissioned in 1958. In 2003, the production association was transformed into a JSC. The state owns the controlling stake. The enterprise employs over 4.5 thousand people. -0-
