Polotsk bathhouse attendants will add heat and choose the most resilient
January 29, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The most resilient bathers from the Polotsk district will choose a record holder for the first time on January 30 and launch a new tourist project "Famous Baths of the Polotsk Land," the head of the sports and tourism department of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, Alexander Kuryakov, told a BELTA correspondent.
The meeting place for lovers of hot steam and strong bath brooms will be the agro-ecotourism estate "Khutor u Krenitsy" in the village of Vladychino. The local bathhouse will temporarily turn into a kind of stadium where competitions for the duration of stay in the steam room will be held. Alexander Kuryakov promises to "turn up the heat" for the participants: for men, the temperature in the steam room will reach plus 140 degrees Celsius, and for women - plus 100 degrees Celsius. The event will conclude with a swim in an ice-cold pool.
According to the interlocutor, the number of people wishing to participate in the competition was so great that five more rural councils of the district, where bathhouse enthusiast clubs have been created, joined the bathhouse Spartakiad. They will also choose the most resilient bather in their respective rural councils.
Preparations began long before the competitions, because a real bathhouse is not an exotic sauna or hammam. Here, as in sports, you cannot achieve victory without constant training. Before the competition, all participants will undergo a medical examination, and independent experts will monitor their condition during the competition. Winners, as expected, will receive awards: diplomas and valuable prizes.
The initiative to hold the competitions belongs to the owners of Polotsk agro-ecotourism estates and bathhouse enthusiasts. The idea was supported by the Polotsk District Executive Committee, which acted as one of the organizers. Such unusual competitions can not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also become good advertising for rural tourism, the district executive committee believes. -0-
