Polotsk bathhouse attendants are again preparing steam rooms and brooms for the bathhouse championship

January 24, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The "Famous Polotsk Baths" bathhouse championship will be held for the second time in the Polotsk district on January 29, Dmitry Dolgov, head of the ideological work department of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. The meeting place for lovers of hot steam and a strong broom will be the agro-ecotourism estate "U Krenitsy" in the village of Vladychino. The local bathhouse will temporarily turn into a kind of ring where bathhouse regulars will compete. They will have to demonstrate the art of handling a broom, show endurance in the steam room, and bravery in an ice hole. The championship results will be summed up in individual and team standings. A team consists of a man and a woman. At the same time, the final team result, all other conditions being equal, will depend on the points scored by the woman: if the teams score the same number of points, the one where the fair half of the team scored the highest number of points will win. Participants' preparation began long before the competition - after all, a real bathhouse requires weekly training. Before the competition, all participants will have to undergo a medical examination, and independent experts will monitor their condition during the competition. Winners, as expected, will receive awards: diplomas and valuable prizes. While some will be warming up in the bathhouse on the shelf, others will be able to fully enjoy hot tea with pies and a cheerful song in the frost. Amateur artists will perform for the fans, and local consumer cooperatives will set up trade stalls. The initiative to hold the competition belongs to the owners of Polotsk agro-ecotourism estates and bathhouse enthusiasts. The idea was supported by the Polotsk District Executive Committee, which acted as one of the organizers. Such unusual competitions can not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also become good advertising for rural tourism, and allow for the exchange of experience in organizing leisure and providing services, the district executive committee believes. The Polotsk bathhouse championship will become regular. It is worth noting that bathhouse sports championships are held in different countries, and since 1999, the World Bathhouse Championship has been held regularly. In 2010, the competition took place in Finland, with 130 bathhouse athletes from 15 countries participating. -0-
