Polotsk border guards prevented an attempt to break through the Latvian-Belarusian border
An attempt to break through the Latvian-Belarusian border at the Urbany border crossing in the Braslav district was prevented by Polotsk border guards on the afternoon of March 1.
A citizen of Belarus, without completing the formalities at the Latvian border crossing "Silene", knocked down the barrier and drove his "Audi A-6" at high speed towards the Belarusian side.
A Belarusian border guard, noticing the approaching foreign car, assessed the situation and deployed a special forced stop device. The offender, noticing these actions, sharply reduced speed and stopped the vehicle a few meters from the Belarusian border crossing.
An alert team quickly blocked the car and detained the driver.
During a special inspection of the "Audi A-6", no items prohibited for transport across the state border were found.
An investigation is being conducted into the incident.
The car has been placed in a special parking lot for detained vehicles.
