Polotsk State University has created an educational building in the former buildings of Naftan

Polotsk State University has converted a complex of buildings in the settlement of Mezhdurechye, which were transferred by OJSC "Naftan", into a modern educational and laboratory building, the university reported.

The official transfer of the buildings, which were leased by OJSC "Naftan" on a long-term basis, to PSU for operational management took place on December 31, 2015, in accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers. And already in February 2016, classes began in the premises, reconstructed by the university's own efforts and funds.

Today, the General Director of OJSC "Naftan", Vladimir Tretyakov, handed over a symbolic key to the university's rector, Dmitry Lazovsky. The event was attended by honored guests, including representatives of the Ministry of Education, a former graduate of the PSU Law Faculty, member of the House of Representatives Vadim Devyatovsky, the leadership of Novopolotsk and Polotsk districts, and colleagues from other universities. The educational and laboratory building became a gift for the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Sports and Pedagogy (specialty "Physical Education"). In addition, the university received a social and domestic building and open flat facilities for gratuitous use. The social and domestic building still needs to be repaired and equipped as a canteen. However, the outdoor areas are fully ready for playing tennis and mini-football. The main part of the work was carried out in the educational building – the premises were re-planned into lecture halls, which are equipped with new ergonomic furniture and multimedia equipment. A coffee shop has been opened in the foyer. In addition, specialized rooms have been equipped: a courtroom, offices for forensics, anatomy and physiology, methodological foundations of physical education, a negotiation room, and a library with a legal information office.

\"It is planned to establish an educational, scientific, and practical center of regional significance on the basis of the Faculty of Law. The range of activities will be broad and based on the interaction of legal science and practice – from consultations for the public and legal support of economic activities to dispute resolution and court hearings,\" the PSU added. Students were provided with halls for team sports, combat sports, table tennis, gyms, as well as numerous rooms for organizing cultural and leisure activities and creative self-development, including an assembly hall. It was here that the ceremonial handover of the symbolic key took place, followed by an awards ceremony for university staff who actively participated in the reconstruction, and a celebratory concert.
