Polotsk Grain Processing Plant is preparing to launch its own groats production workshop

Полоцкий комбинат хлебопродуктов готовит к запуску собственный цех по производству круп

Polotsk Grain Processing Plant OJSC is preparing to launch its own groats production workshop, as reported by Elena Dubnitskaya, Head of the Sales and Marketing Department of Polotsk Grain Processing Plant.

"This year, we acquired a small-volume groats workshop where barley groats, pearl barley, oat groats, wheat groats, and buckwheat groats will be processed. This has been a long-standing idea of the director. We have prepared the premises, purchased the equipment, and recently, technicians from Russia and Ukraine visited and trained our staff. Approximately Br1 billion of the enterprise's own funds were spent on this. In the future, we will acquire a flaking machine to produce oat flakes. Until now, the plant only bought groats and packaged them for sale," explained Elena Dubnitskaya.

Currently, technological refinement is underway, and the necessary documents are being prepared. It is expected that the new workshop will produce approximately 4-5 tons of groats per shift (in 8 hours). If necessary, it can operate in 3 shifts. "We expect to start selling finished products in the retail network not only of the region but of the entire republic from October-November of this year," added the interviewee.

Local raw materials will be used for processing, sourced from several districts of the Vitebsk region (with the exception of millet, which is not grown in the region).

Polotsk Grain Processing Plant is systematically working to expand its production base and product range, and to find new sales markets. "Not long ago, we carried out a reconstruction of the mill, and now we are reconstructing the compound feed workshop, installing new equipment. A year and a half ago, we opened meat processing: we started producing sausages and smoking hams using a traditional method. Recently, a premix line with component-wise input was built, for which modern equipment was purchased. We plan to export these vitamin and mineral additives in the near future," noted the Head of the Sales and Marketing Department.
