The Polotsk amulet paid tribute to the Yaroslavl payment

October 22, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Polotsk amulet paid tribute to the Yaroslavl cloth and presented it with 3 works by craftswomen from the "Roshva" patchwork club of the Polotsk Center of Crafts and National Cultures, the head of the club Nina Yarmukh told a BELTA correspondent. Yaroslavl craftswomen picked up the idea of their Polotsk colleagues to create a huge patchwork cloth - the Yaroslavl Cloth - and are preparing it for the millennium of Yaroslavl, which will be celebrated in the autumn of 2010, she explained. The gift from Polotsk women became a kind of roll call of two ancient cities, as the Polotsk amulet, whose area is already about 100 sq.m, among hundreds of works from different countries, includes 4 works from Yaroslavl. The cooperation of craftswomen from Yaroslavl and Polotsk continues at the first patchwork festival in Belarus "Polotsk-quilt". Yaroslavl works are participating in competitive and non-competitive displays. The festival began on October 12, and its winners will be announced on October 24. Over fifty works, made in various patchwork techniques by masters from Belarus and Russia, were submitted for the competition. 37 of them were selected for participation, and they were created by both recognized master artists - prize-winners of International patchwork competitions, and novice amateurs. -0-
