The Polotsk border guard detachment uses a snowmobile for border protection
A snowmobile has begun to be used in the protection of the state border at one of the outposts of the Polotsk border guard detachment, Denis Glebko, assistant chief of the Polotsk border guard detachment, told a BELTA correspondent.
Throughout the winter of 2013, an experiment is being conducted at the outpost on the active use of a snowmobile in the protection of the Belarusian-Latvian border. Border guards will be on duty around the clock using the new mode of transport. The technical characteristics of the snowmobile will increase the speed, maneuverability, and surprise of border patrol actions to suppress state border violations and smuggling activities.
In May 2012, Polotsk border guards became participants in an experiment on the use of riding horses in border protection. Mounted patrols appeared at the "Saveyki" outpost. This experiment continues and, according to Denis Glebko, has received positive feedback.
