Polotsk border guards had to use weapons while detaining border violators
In the evening of June 4, Polotsk border guards received information about the presence of unknown citizens within the border zone in the Braslav district.
During search operations, the violators were detected. However, they ignored the border guards' demand to stop and continued moving towards the State Border. Considering that it was impossible to prevent the violation of the State Border by other means, the senior border guard warned the pursued individuals about the possibility of using weapons and fired one warning shot into the air from his service weapon. As a result, 5 unknown individuals were detained. Some time later, another violator was detained.
During the check, it was found that the detainees were citizens of the Republic of Vietnam, who arrived in Belarus from Russia. The violators intended to cross the Belarusian-Latvian border in order to seek better living conditions in the European Union.
All of them have been brought to justice for violating the State Border of the Republic of Belarus, the border regime, and for violating the rules of stay in the Republic of Belarus. After paying the fine, they will be deported from Belarus. Each of them is banned from entering Belarus for 5 years.
We remind you that due to changes in legislation on the State Border, from July 23 of this year, the responsibility for border violation will be tightened, and the fine under the specified article will be imposed in the range of 10 to 100 base units.
For reference: since the beginning of 2015, Polotsk border guards have detained 39 State Border violators, who in 10 cases attempted to violate the State Border of the Republic of Belarus, the majority of whom are natives of Vietnam and Georgia.
