Polotsk border guards stopped an attempt to smuggle cigarettes

In the night from June 4 to 5, at the "Bigosovo" railway station on the Belarusian-Latvian border, during the inspection of a freight train en route "Polotsk-Daugavpils", 3198 packs of "Premier Krasny" cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps, concealed from customs clearance, were discovered by Polotsk border guards under the cisterns.

In the night from June 4 to 5, at the railway station "Bigosovo" on the Belarusian-Latvian border, during the inspection of a freight train en route "Polotsk-Daugavpils" , 3198 packs of "Premier Krasny" cigarettes with Belarusian excise stamps, concealed from customs clearance, were discovered by Polotsk border guards under the cisterns.

The cigarettes were seized and handed over to customs; the estimated value of the cigarettes amounted to 29 million 944 thousand rubles.

An investigation is being conducted regarding this incident.

Over the past 5 months of the current year, in the area of responsibility of the Polotsk Border Detachment, in 58 cases, disloyal individuals attempted to smuggle goods across the border with a total value exceeding 4 billion 849 million rubles. The vast majority of these were cigarettes, detained in 31 cases with a value exceeding 3 billion 840 million rubles.

The command of the Polotsk Border Detachment once again reminds citizens intending to cross the State Border at border crossing points to comply with the established procedure for crossing the State Border and to avoid violations of customs legislation regarding the movement of goods across the border.
