Polotsk border guards detained a batch of contraband cigarettes worth half a billion rubles

On the night of October 28, in the Verkhnedvinsk district, an attempt to illegally export a large batch of cigarettes to the Republic of Latvia using railway transport was thwarted.

During joint operations by servicemen of the Polotsk Border Guard Detachment and employees of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs, cigarettes "Premier", "Premier-7", "FEST", "NZ GOLD" with Belarusian excise stamps in the amount of 76,960 packs were discovered in a freight car containing potash fertilizers.

The cigarettes have been handed over to the employees of the Vitebsk Customs. The estimated value of the seized cigarettes amounted to 552 million 604 thousand rubles. An investigation is currently underway to identify the persons involved in this offense.
