Polotsk enterprise "Mona" sews suits for Russian rescuers
Staff reduction, the introduction of the latest equipment and advanced technologies allow for the production of competitive products, and therefore, to be a long-liver in the industry, believes Viktor Amelchenko, Director of OJSC "Mona" (Polotsk).
It should be noted that this enterprise celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2011. But I will not touch upon the history of its creation. I will only note that over the past three years, the Polotsk sewing factory has undergone a number of significant changes, as a result of which labor productivity has increased 7-fold, production volume - 6.5-fold, and wages - 5-fold. For example, seamstresses at the Vetrino site receive an average of over 6 million rubles. And this is a great merit of the enterprise director, who adheres to the principle: wages must be earned. Therefore, the equipment at the factory does not stand idle, and specialists do not waste their working time.
– Today it is necessary to feel what will happen not even tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow, – Viktor Nikolaevich is confident. – We must keep pace with the times, despite the fact that they are not easy. And here, technical re-equipment, the use of automated lines are important, thanks to which there is a reduction in energy and material intensity, and a significant saving of labor resources. Now we have reached the optimal number of employees, which allows us to ensure the entire technological process with good quality and move forward. Over three years, using our own funds, we have invested over 3 billion rubles in production. We acquired magnificent cutting equipment of American production, then laying and measuring complexes. We bought two button machines, as well as gluing mechanisms… The wear of the active part of the equipment today is no more than 37 percent. This is a great indicator for the republic, and indeed for the world.
Large-scale modernization has allowed the factory to reach a completely new level of development. The list of partners has been replenished with European manufacturers. Thus, certain products of some quite well-known world brands are sewn by the hands of Polotsk seamstresses. At the same time, cooperation under the tolling scheme was not limited to purely mechanical operations. After all, foreigners brought new technologies and fabrics to the enterprise, shared their own developments. And this is worth a lot. However, changes in customs legislation made such interaction unprofitable. And for the countries of the Iberian and Apennine peninsulas, production in Polotsk was stopped. But they started sewing for the "Glance" trademark. This is a Russian brand that is actively conquering the fashion segment not only of its domestic market, but also of countries near and far abroad. The products are distinguished by high quality, остро fashionable details and style.
– This company has about 300 of its own stores throughout Russia, – explains Viktor Amelchenko. – Glance products are also represented in Belarus. Annually, our Russian partners release four collections that are never repeated. An individual approach to customers, a flexible discount system, and a large-scale PR campaign significantly increase the number of product admirers. They grow every year, and consequently, so do we. This activity brings us only profitable orders, allowing us to achieve a 12 percent profitability. In addition, this year "Mona" began cooperating with the largest Belarusian textile manufacturer – OJSC "Mogotex", which won a tender for the tailoring of suits for the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. But due to the fact that the enterprise has received more orders, it was decided to attract external labor. The Polotsk factory has a cutting complex capable of cutting metallized threads, therefore, considering the technical equipment and excellent reputation of "Mona", Viktor Amelchenko's subordinates were entrusted with sewing gloves for the combat suits of Russian rescuers. A huge order – 70 thousand units – was completed on time and with high quality, which was duly appreciated and the contract was extended: in 2013, it is necessary to sew 60 thousand gloves. By the way, these combat suits have successfully passed tests in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, and samples have also been sent to Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. To be fair, I should note that the Polotsk factory does not forget about domestic consumers either. This year, a linen collection of women's clothing was sewn here, which was presented in all retail outlets of the Vitebsk region and the republic.
Today, in cooperation with the Orsha Linen Mill, they are working on the "Spring-Summer 2013" collection. However, this product will not be marked with the "Mona" trademark. The new name is still kept secret. The only thing that was managed to be found out is that the collection will include items intended for women of both standard and plus sizes – up to size 74. So, check the women's clothing sections more often so as not to accidentally miss exclusive models from "Mona"!
