Poland will present a project dedicated to Chopin's 200th anniversary at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival
February 25, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Poland intends to present a cultural project dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin at the XIX International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk". This was announced by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland to Belarus, Henryk Litwin, today at a meeting with the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports.
"This year, we would like to return to the Slavianski Bazaar and present a major performance in the festival program related to the celebration of Frederic Chopin's 200th anniversary," the diplomat said.
Issues of participation of representatives of the Polish delegation in the festival will be one of the topics of the working meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the two countries scheduled for next week. "I hope that the meeting will lay the foundation for the implementation of a number of projects in the cultural sphere that directly concern the Vitebsk region, including the participation of the Polish delegation in the Slavianski Bazaar," Henryk Litwin noted. In addition to culture, significant opportunities for cooperation between the Vitebsk region and Poland are contained in the economic and scientific spheres, the development of interregional contacts, as well as interaction between universities, he added.
According to the assessment of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, a certain system of quite close relationships has already been established between the Vitebsk region and Poland in various spheres, which provides opportunities for developing cooperation in almost all areas. Based on the results of 2009, the foreign trade turnover of the region's enterprises with Poland amounted to $67 million, and there are all the necessary conditions for increasing this figure several times. First of all, it is necessary to use the potential of the FEZ "Vitebsk" for the creation of joint Belarusian-Polish enterprises, including in woodworking, in the field of radio electronics, and for the production of sanitary and hygiene products. A project for the construction of a pharmaceutical enterprise is being implemented in Vitebsk, which opens up serious prospects for cooperation in this high-tech and knowledge-intensive direction. Another promising area of economic interaction could be the implementation of joint projects in the agro-industrial complex.
Vitebsk and Polish universities are developing active contacts, which allows not only for improving the qualifications of specialists from the two countries, carrying out student exchanges, but also for conducting joint applied research. The rich traditions of partnership in the cultural sphere also make it possible to consider this direction as one of the priorities. "I hope that the result of the meeting will be the intensification of our cooperation in all areas of activity without exception," Alexander Kosinets concluded. -0-
