Polish investors are interested in implementing projects for the production of building materials in the FEZ "Vitebsk"

July 8, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA/. Polish investors are interested in implementing construction materials production projects in the "Vitebsk" FEZ. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by Sergey Stashevsky, First Deputy Head of the FEZ Administration, following the FEZ delegation's visit to Poland in late June. A number of enterprises, members of the Northern Chamber of Commerce of Poland, showed interest in the investment potential of the FEZ. Thus, preliminary agreements on establishing a joint venture with one of the FEZ residents and organizing the production of super-strong construction materials have been reached with ARBET company, which specializes in the production of concrete products using hyper-pressing technology. In addition, ROGMET company is considering a proposal to establish a metal construction materials production enterprise within the "Vitebsk" FEZ. The promotion of the FEZ's potential in the Polish market became possible thanks to active cooperation with the Polish company DAZIN sp. z o.o., with which the "Vitebsk" FEZ has a cooperation agreement. In accordance with the document, the parties assist Belarusian and Polish enterprises in implementing joint investment projects in Belarus and Poland, and initiate joint business meetings and consultations for interested business circles of the two countries. The interaction between the FEZ administration and the Polish company resulted in the organization of a business meeting at the Northern Chamber of Commerce of Poland. It has over 1,300 member enterprises, at least a quarter of which are manufacturers, including construction materials and furniture, and specialize in alternative energy, noted Sergey Stashevsky. The administration of the "Vitebsk" FEZ considers cooperation with Polish business as one of the priority areas of investment cooperation. Agreements on information exchange and assistance in promoting the FEZ's capabilities were also reached during working meetings of the Vitebsk FEZ delegation with representatives of the Polish-Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Polish-German Club, a number of investment companies, and banking structures. Business communication will continue during the Pomeranian Economic Forum scheduled for November 2009, which the delegation of the Vitebsk region plans to attend. The "Vitebsk" FEZ was established on August 4, 1999. Currently, 34 residents are registered in the FEZ with the participation of investors from 13 countries, including Germany, the USA, Great Britain, Canada, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Russia. Resident enterprises produce products for the fuel, chemical, and light industries, mechanical engineering, have mastered food production, and are engaged in scientific research. The territory of the free economic zone includes seven sectors with a total area of over 1.2 thousand hectares.
