President's Aide Criticized the Activities of the Vitebsk Regional Agricultural Production Department

Помощник Президента раскритиковал деятельность Витебского облсельхозпрода

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Chief Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Nikolai Domashkevich, strongly criticized the activities of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. He expressed his point of view on the committee's work to journalists during a reception of citizens at the regional executive committee, BELTA correspondent reports.

According to Nikolai Domashkevich, the activities of the regional agricultural officials have been reduced to sitting in offices and sending instructions to the field. Meanwhile, some districts of the region need effective assistance on the eve of sowing. For example, in the Liozno district, only 3% of phosphorus fertilizers had been accumulated by mid-March, and the equipment was not yet ready for the start of spring work, as the district's enterprises lacked funds to purchase spare parts. "The district is bankrupt, but no one from the Committee for Agriculture has helped it. No one is concerned about how the district will conduct sowing under such conditions. But behind all this are the needs of ordinary people: their wages, their living conditions," Nikolai Domashkevich stated.

Another pressing problem in the region is the decrease in milk yield on reconstructed farms. According to Nikolai Domashkevich, neither the regional agricultural committee nor the Academy of Veterinary Medicine are addressing this issue.
