Alexander Subbotin has been appointed as the President’s Aide – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region
Igor Evseev previously held the position of Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee. The Head of State noted that appointing a uniformed officer to the position of Presidential Assistant is to some extent an experiment.
– I don't think there will be a mistake here. We will see how the general's fate unfolds in this civilian position, although it is difficult to say that it is civilian: it is sometimes more important and even more military than that of some people in uniform, – noted Alexander Lukashenko.
Alexander Subbotin has until now held the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food – Director of the Department of Veterinary and Food Control.
– You know agriculture. Moreover, you know it not only from the "bottom" perspective, you are a scientist. There is a lot of work to be done there, and first of all, we need to cut this Gordian knot with the crop structure once and for all: we still cannot clear a couple of thousand hectares of grain crops there. What kind of grain crops they are in October, you understand perfectly well. Therefore, we need to sow where it is possible, and what can be harvested and yield efficiency there, – the President pointed out.
Addressing the leadership of the Presidential Administration, the Head of State noted that the functions of Presidential Assistants in the regions sometimes overlap with the activities of governors. He instructed to clearly define their areas of work.
– We still need to, to some extent, however difficult it may be, delineate, draw some line between the personnel inspector – the President's representative and the governor, who is the first person in the region. Each has their own functions, although they constantly intersect. I think the assistants have developed a certain style of work during this time, and they must be responsible for their own work first and foremost. This nuance must be taken into account, – said Alexander Lukashenko.
