An attempt to try drugs cost a student of a Vitebsk university Br100 million.
April 17, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. An attempt to try drugs cost a Vitebsk university student Br100 million, Anton Zykov, senior assistant prosecutor of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, told a BELTA correspondent.
In December last year, a native of the Russian Federation, studying in his fifth year at one of Vitebsk's universities, purchased 2 g of marijuana and amphetamine in the city center for Br1 million. The student told law enforcement officers who caught him red-handed that he had bought the narcotic substances for himself – he wanted to try them.
During the investigation of the criminal case initiated against the young man under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus ("Illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation or mailing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors without the purpose of sale", punishment - up to 5 years of imprisonment), law enforcement officers failed to find evidence of the student's involvement in drug trafficking. Taking into account his positive character reference, high academic performance at the university, and lack of prior problems with the law, the punishment for attempting to try prohibited substances was a large fine (Br100 million) and a spoiled record for the student. -0-
