Polotsk border guards prevented an attempted breakthrough on the Belarusian-Latvian border
On October 13, Polotsk border guards prevented an attempt to break through the Belarusian-Latvian border. On Sunday, a citizen of Lithuania, born in 1958, driving a Mercedes, was crossing the "Grigorovshchina" border crossing point, traveling from Latvia to Belarus.
Upon exiting the border crossing point after clearance by control services, the driver ignored the "STOP" sign located at the border service module and attempted to continue driving without stopping, after which the border guards were forced to use a coercive stopping device. The driver thereby violated the regime at the border crossing point and traffic rules. Traffic police officers were called to the scene.
As a result of the unauthorized exit attempt, 6 tires of the Mercedes car were punctured. The truck driver has been brought to administrative responsibility for violating the regime at the border crossing point and traffic rules; for each offense, the driver has been fined 650 thousand rubles.
Currently, an investigation is being conducted into this incident. In connection with this fact, it is necessary to remind once again that the procedure for the movement of vehicles and the stay of persons at the border crossing point are carried out by border service officers, and failure to comply with their requirements entails administrative responsibility in the form of a fine of up to fifty basic units.
