The procedure for citizens to import cars from Belarus to Russia will be simplified

March 1, Minsk / Liliya Krapivina - BELTA/. The procedure for citizens to import passenger cars from Belarus to Russia will be simplified. This was announced today to journalists by Vladimir Orlovsky, Head of the Customs Control Organization Department of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. From the second half of March 2011, the Russian customs will not require certificates from individuals for exporting cars from Belarus. This was agreed upon by the heads of the customs services of Belarus and Russia on February 25 at a meeting in Moscow. The heads of the customs services of the Customs Union countries discussed issues of interaction between the customs authorities of the three countries when moving customs control to the external border of the union. The heads of the State Customs Committee of Belarus and the Federal Customs Service of Russia agreed on information interaction when confirming the status of personal use vehicles deregistered in Belarus by the Russian customs authorities. "This will allow the Russian customs authorities to stop requiring customs documents from individuals confirming the date of customs clearance of the vehicle in Belarus before January 1, 2010, from the second half of March," noted Vladimir Orlovsky. The currently existing certificates will be canceled, meaning the export of vehicles from Belarus to the territory of Russia will be simplified. Citizens who purchased cars before January 1, 2010, will be able to sell them in Russia without certificates. -0-
