The President's address to the Belarusian people and parliament has been postponed from April 19 to a later date
April 17, Minsk /BelTA correspondent/. The Address of the President of Belarus to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, previously scheduled for April 19, has been postponed to a later date. As reported to BelTA by the head of the press service of the President of Belarus, Pavel Legkiy, the head of state rejected the draft Address prepared by government bodies and sent it back for revision.
The President instructed to rework a number of provisions of the Address concerning, in particular, issues of privatization of state property, as well as the country's foreign policy course.
The head of state instructed to take into account a number of fundamental points in the draft Address: the inadmissibility of an excessively liberal approach in the sale of state property, the categorical unacceptability of so-called blanket privatization, as well as the mandatory and comprehensive protection of the interests of ordinary workers and all rank-and-file citizens of Belarus during the possible privatization of enterprises.
Regarding foreign policy approaches, the head of state spoke out against excessively tough response measures to emerging problems in Belarus's relations with its partners.
Recently, the President of the country held expanded meetings on privatization and foreign policy, during which the head of state made a number of fundamental statements. -0-
