The latest achievements in materials science are presented at an international symposium in Vitebsk
May 26, Vitebsk / Sergei Kotovets - BELTA/. The research and developments presented at the International Symposium "Advanced Materials and Technologies" in Vitebsk are essentially the scientific basis for the implementation of the Belarusian-Russian program on the application of nanotechnology in the aerospace complex. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by Sergei Zhdanok, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, academician-secretary of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, before the opening of the conference, which is taking place today at the Vitebsk State Technological University.
According to him, this Belarusian-Russian program will be considered at the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State. Therefore, it is no coincidence that the conference in Vitebsk precedes the upcoming discussion. "The creation of such a joint program is a continuation of the work in the field of fundamental sciences that we are carrying out in cooperation with Russian scientists," said Sergei Zhdanok. New materials synthesized by scientists are becoming the basis for future technology, in this case for space systems and infrastructure for space exploration, which are already being created in Belarus.
The conference in Vitebsk will also discuss cooperation in this area, particularly with Russian scientists, where this field has a strong potential, noted Sergei Zhdanok. Scientists will analyze the latest achievements in materials science and technologies, as well as identify new tasks that need to be solved together within a unified scientific process. Through these tasks in science, it will be possible to develop new materials not only for the real sector of the economy but also, in particular, for medicine – these are new approaches in prosthetics, the creation of medical instruments, and new materials for surgery, emphasized Sergei Zhdanok. The ideas and developments that will be presented during the plenary sessions can give impetus to new research in this field, he is confident. The participation of prominent scientists from 6 countries in the Vitebsk scientific forum indicates the great attention in the world to the issues of advanced materials and technologies.
In total, about 100 leading scientists and specialists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, and Moldova are participating in the traditional scientific forum. During the symposium, the results of theoretical and experimental studies of the influence of high-energy impacts on the strength and plasticity of materials will be presented, and it is also planned to consider a number of the most relevant areas of materials science and condensed matter physics.
The organizers of the symposium, which will conclude on May 29, are the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Vitebsk State Technological University with the support of the Interstate Coordination Council for the Physics of Strength and Plasticity of Materials of the CIS countries. -0-
