The last Cinematograph in Vitebsk is dedicated to love and revenge
April 5, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The fifth, final art project Cinematograf has started in Vitebsk, Director of the Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya told a BELTA correspondent.
Traditionally, the project includes an exhibition of artworks and a film program. This year, they are united by the theme of love and revenge. Every person experiences the bright and all-consuming feeling of love at least once in their life. However, it is not always mutual or lasting. Unexpected twists of fate sometimes lead to an equally passionate desire for revenge. The participants of this year's exhibition – artists from Vitebsk, Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Polotsk, Kyiv (Ukraine), Bialystok (Poland), and Israel – have tried to reflect these emotions in art objects, installations, paintings, graphics, and photographs. The specially curated film program of 16 films, which will be shown until May 8, will also help visitors to the exhibition explore the theme.
The permanent curator of the art project Cinematograf for all five years has been Vitebsk artist Dina Danilovich. In her opinion, it would be incorrect to say that this project is coming to an end. Rather, like any cultural phenomenon, it transforms into something new. "Next year, its logical continuation will be a new project 'Anatomy', in which we will try to penetrate the essence of things, images, and thoughts. It will also be interesting," the artist noted.
The final exhibition of the Cinematograf project, which will be held in June at the Museum of Modern Fine Art in Minsk, will be its last creative report for the five years of its existence. -0-
