The Embassy of the Czech Republic is implementing four projects this year to deepen cooperation with Belarus
"According to our statistical data, last year the Czech Republic and Belarus achieved a trade turnover of $500 million. This is a very good result, but we must deepen it. This is the main goal of my diplomatic mission," emphasized Tomáš Pernický.
To deepen cooperation with Belarus, the Czech Embassy intends to implement four major projects this year. Three of them are related to organizing missions of Belarusian businessmen and entrepreneurs to the Czech Republic to familiarize themselves with the traditions of fish farming in lakes, the brewing industry and enterprises that produce brewing equipment, as well as achievements in the reconstruction of water treatment facilities. The diplomat sees significant potential for the development of bilateral relations in the latter, as Czech companies have significant experience and knowledge in this area. One of them won a tender last year to carry out the reconstruction of the Brest city treatment facilities and proved itself positively during the work. The fourth project provides for a mission of Czech businessmen to familiarize themselves and establish business contacts with partners from the Minsk and Vitebsk regions.
According to the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, 14 enterprises with Czech capital operate in the region. Last year, the trade turnover between the region and the Czech Republic increased 1.6 times. The governor sees one of the effective ways to multiply this result on mutually beneficial terms in increasing the number of joint ventures, including in fish farming, for example, for breeding and processing trout and sturgeon. "Joint ventures are the base, the key foundation. This is cost optimization, competitiveness potential," added Nikolai Sherstnev.
